Rose I. Schneider

Mrs. Rose I. Schneider, 85, Atchison, Kansas, formerly of Highland, Kansas, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 9:30 A.M., with a rosary to be recited just prior to the funeral mass at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Northeast Kansas Hospice and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Rose was born January 27, 1927, in Baileyville, Kansas, the daughter of Anthony and Nora E. Schmidt Koelzer. She attended Carol School.

She and Patrick Schneider were united in marriage on September 2, 1947, in Beattie, Kansas.

Rose worked at Flare-Fold Shutter Factory in Hiawatha, Kansas for many years until her retirement. Previously she spent her time at home assisting her husband on the farm and for two years she worked at McKay Grocer, Highland, Kansas.

Rose enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, doll making, gardening and camping in her spare time. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of sixty four years Patrick Schneider, two daughters, Kathleen Twombly, Hiawatha, KS, Patricia (Bill) Moore, Topeka, KS, three sons, Gene (Gloria) Schneider, Leavenworth , KS, Francis (Jane) Schneider, Atchison, KS, Tony Schneider, Atchison, KS, six sisters, Eleanora Engler, Myersville, MD, Ethal Dick, Pocatello, ID, Luciel Jureck, Blair, NE, Marcella Andrews, Omaha, NE, Margaret Langlass, Lincoln, NE, Grace Koelzer, Marysville, KS, two brothers, Raymond Koelzer, Joplin, MO, Leo Koelzer, Joplin, MO, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Koelzer, George Koelzer and Anthony Koelzer and a sister, Mary Anne Heideman
